Mr.Bachchan I agree with you..

English is indeed a very “phunny” language!!! (he said this in the movie Namak Halal. Thanks S for that bit of information :))

So, I picked Na up from school and we came home. When I was getting Narad’s lunch ready, they started fist fighting as is the norm these days in the Avial household 🙂  Rad apparently hit Na pretty hard with her 16 month old fists! So Na complained “Amma aval enna adikkara”.  I should have replied back in tamizh, instead I had to tell her, “You also hit her”(as in, you hit her so she is hitting you) .  Getting THE permission from amma, a very thrilled Na went hitting Rad again!

So when I asked her to stop hitting Rad, Na says – “but you asked me to hit her!!!”

I was last seen by Narad, banging my head on the wall and muttering ” God please forgive them for they no not what they say!!! “!

Tata!

Kids will twist your utterances in comical ways. The other day I told Dhruv that a friend’s puppy we were going to visit is a ‘girl dog’. He immediately thought I meant ‘girl’s dog’ and protested that boys could also play. I had to explain that it was a dog who is a girl!!!

delurking first time. Gotta be careful coz kids certainly know how to take advantage of such tricky situations. BTW I love how you coined the name narad 🙂

Excellent point. I say such things colloquially as well. 😦 We have so deeply internalized these wrong usages. Difficult to get it out of the system. 🙂

Thanks Rekha and Welcome here! I’m glad my blog contributes in it’s own way to your winding down! And you hit the nail on it’s head, yes the day she said it I got pretty irritated, but I am sure a couple of years later I will look back on all these memories very fondly!
